Family Businesses and SMEs
Family Businesses
Family businesses are at the heart of the UK economy. Research by the Institute for Family Business (IFB) revealed that family-run companies earned £1.4 trillion in turnover in 2015 and generated 28% of UK GDP.
At Twenty Twenty HR we have experience of looking after family firms in the Kent, Sussex and wider London area and understand their particular contribution to community and the economy, and the challenges they face in a fast paced, changing world.
We advise family businesses on matters of succession, support the planning of the transition into the next generation, and facilitate combining business with family, being aware of organisation cultural differences and fit.
Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs)
Small businesses are a force to be reckoned with. The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) reports that there were 5.6 million small businesses in the UK at the start of 2018, accounting for 99.3% of all private sector businesses with a total employment of 16.3 million people and a combined annual turnover of £2.0 trillion, 52% of all private sector turnover.
At Twenty Twenty HR we understand that in order to assert themselves in the market SMEs face a myriad of challenges, oodles of time-consuming red tape and regulations, not to mention the difficulties many encounter in finding and recruiting the right staff with the right skills, particularly as they start to grow and can no longer on referral of friends and family.
